Japanese infrastructure for transportation
Japan features one of the most modern transportation infrastructures in the world. The country has 97 airports, eight of which generate profit. The people of Japan are benefitting from fast, efficient and innovative transportation networks and systems that allow them to travel in the fastest and easiest way possible.

Tokyo’s major Urban Development Project
Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, aims to be a competitive global city through its major urban development in the city. There are now various on-going developments in the area that specifically aim to further develop the city.
In Marunouchi, there are development projects spearheaded by Mitsubishi Estate Co., LTD to undertake major renovations after the “Type 1 City Redevelopment Project” approval. Other real estate developers such as Sumitomo Realty & Development and Mori Building are key players in land development projects for the 2020 Olympic Games.
To alleviate traffic congestion in the city, infrastructure projects including the Shinjuku Station south exit, taxi stands, buildings, bus stops and more have been set up. These projects reduce travel time and boost efficiency.

When it comes to railway transportation, the country is known for its state of the art railway system. The Japanese government in its efforts to increase the efficiency of their airports and airline industry is planning to privatize some of its transportation networks especially since the country is positioning itself globally and as the host country for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
As a part of its ambitious plans, Japan continues to invest in various transportation-related infrastructural projects. In January 2015, the government signed a deal to construct 2 high-speed lines. The Japanese government is also considering selling its high-speed rail train system to other countries.
Japan’s Automotive Industry
With more infrastructure and development projects on their way, another key sector is the automotive industry. In the next 5 years, it is projected that the domestic vehicle sales and production will amount to 6 million and 10 million vehicles respectively. Almost 9% of the working population of the country operates in the auto sector. The domestic Japanese automotive industry is a competitive one with Japanese brands being known worldwide for their quality and innovative design. Based on competitive price and excellent quality, Japanese consumers are more inclined to purchase locally manufactured made cars. In fact, only about 5% of the vehicles sold in the country are imported.
